The Claude C. Thornton Foundation is dedicated to elevating individual and community wellbeing through collective action, socioeconomics, and education. We strive to create positive impact by addressing key societal challenges and fostering a sense of community.
About Us
The Claude C. Thornton Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on elevating individual and community wellbeing through collective action and economics. Most notably, the CCT Foundation hosts an annual Blossoms Blooming Brunch, a safe space for over 100 women in the mid-Atlantic region to fellowship and for mentors in the community to be celebrated, to honor community mentors, and offer the $1,000 Clarinet Scholarship to rising sophomores studying STEM, education, or related fields. The Foundation also hosts the Greater Baltimore Climate Summit!

Greater Baltimore Climate Initiative
The Greater Baltimore Climate Initiative is an innovative program, inspired by the forward-thinking programming of California’s Strategic Growth Council, designed to build strong partnership capacity in the region and foster collaboration among agencies and organizations dedicated to enhancing Baltimore's environmental infrastructure and programming capacity.
Clarinet Scholarship & Education Program
The Clarinet Scholarship & Education Program seeks to honor Renna Clarinet Thornton’s philosophy and enthusiasm for education. After graduating from Coppin State College with her degree in special education in 1972, she started her 40-year teaching journey with Baltimore City Public Schools as a science teacher and special educator. CCTF offers workforce development training, a $1,000 scholarship to collegiate students, as well as parent coaching 1:1s and workshops.
